Himalayan Valley (11 Days/10 Nights)
Originally Himachal Pradesh, the Himalayan region has now been divided into two states; Himachal Pradesh and Uttranchal Pradesh. Blessed with some of the most spectacular and beautiful landscapes in th world, its a travellers paradise with lofty snow peaks, deep gorges, lush green valleys, fast flowing rivers, enchanting mountain lakes, flower bedecked meadows, beautiful temples and monasteries steeped in time. So come on board this unforgettable journey and explore the region offering memories of a life time.
Day 01: Arrive Delhi
On arrival you will be welcomed by our Tour Manager at the airport lounge with TOTAL HOLIDAY OPTIONS signboard. You will then be transferred to your designated hotel where you will receive a traditional welcome with Garland and Tilak. Rest of the day is at leisure with overnight stay in Delhi.
Day 02: Delhi
The best way to get familiarised about the glorious heritage of Delhi is to know its monuments, travel through time back into centuries of history filled with the rise and fall of dynasties that ruled the land. It gives an insight into the rich Indian culture and lets you know about the lives and work styles of various rulers and has a historic importance of its own with every crumbling wall of the city having a story to tell. Visit Jama Masjid; the largest mosque in India built in red sandstone with extensive use of marble, with relics of the Prophet and Holy Quran enshrined here, Qutub Minar; built at a height of 72.5m, and being one of the most important landmarks of Delhi, with calligraphically decorated interiors and also inscriptions of verses of the Holy Quran, visit The Gandhi Memorial; the resting place of the father of the nation, India gate; a memorial tribute with names inscribed of all the soldiers martyred during the Afghan War. The most fascinating aspect of the city is the “visibility” of its historic past. Conclude your tour with an enjoyable rickshaw ride on the narrow streets of famous Chandni Chowk bazaar. (B,D)
Day 03: Delhi – Shimla
Start you day after breakfast with a train journey till Kalka to board the Himalayan queen train for an unforgettable journey. Registered in The Guinness Book as the greatest narrow gauge engineering achievement in India from Kalka to Shimla, the train passes through the breathtaking landscapes of majestic Himalayas with 103 tunnels, 969 bridges, 919 curves and more than 20 railway stations during the course of its entire journey. Enjoy the splendid views of snow clad ranges of the the Himalayas, covered with thickly populated forests of pine and oak. Transfer on arrival and stay for two nights in Shimla. (B,D)
Day 04: Shimla
Dwelling on a panoramic location, this hilly town is surrounded by green pastures and snow-capped peaks, accompanied by structures made during the colonial era, creating an incomparable aura. The magnificent old sites and structures hold the reminiscences of the pre-independence era, when India was ruled by the British. Enjoy your leisurely breakfast and explore The Mall, The Ridge and this beautiful town covered with pine forests with breathtaking and stunning views. (B,D)
Day 05: Shimla- Manali (Driving Time: Approx 7 hours)
Travel to Manali; enjoy the scenic ride and breathtaking beauty of this hill station. The town is covered by high mountains surrounded by silent snow and deep boulder strews gorges. The Beas River rushes along its rocky course amid grassy meadows carpeted with wild flowers and wagtails hop along from stone to stone along the stream’s edge. There are beautiful fields of wild flowers, small picturesque and fruit laden orchards. Stay two nights in Manali. (B,D)
Day 06: - Manali
Go for an excursion to Rohtang Pass for panoramic view of Mighty Himalayas and glaciers covering it. At the top of the pass the air seems to glitter against the snow as one looks down over the herringboned ridges into the Lahaul Valley. To the left of the pass lies the beautiful Doshohar Lake, where pilgrims come every year on the auspicious day of the 20th Bhadon. Stay overnight in Manali. (B,D)
Day 07: Manali – Dharamshala (Driving Time: Approx 5 hours)
After breakfast we then travel to Dharamshala, a town set against the backdrop of the dramatic Dhauladhar Mountains, perched on the high slopes in the inner reaches of Kangra Valley. Enjoy another scenic ride with many small villages in the Himachal Valley. Stay two nights in Dharamshala. (B,D)
Day 08: Dharamshala
Home of the Tibetan leader and Noble Laureate the Dalai Lama, Dharamshala overlooks the plains and is surrounded by dense pine trees and Deodar forests. A nearby snowline with numerous streams and cool atmosphere makes the surroundings very attractive. Dharamshala is divided into 2 distinct parts: lower Dharamshala the civil and business area with courts and Kotwali bazaar and upper Dharamshala composed of places Mcleod Ganj and Forsyth Ganj. Enjoy panoramic view of the tea gardens, beautiful hills, colourful bazaar and colonial lifestyle. Stay overnight in Dharamshala. (B,D)
Day 09: Dharamshala – Amritsar (Driving Time: Approx 5 hours)
After Breakfast we travel towards Amritsar, a home to the most sacred shrine, ‘The Golden Temple’ and the most important holy place in Sikh religion. Amritsar is a thriving city with important devout centres and historical sites, Amritsar exhibits a glorious past. The Golden Temple is the cradle of Amritsar with the city growing around it nurtured by its divine sanctity. It has four doorways and gorgeously decorated arches, reflecting influences of Hindu and Muslim styles of architecture, with the temple standing in the middle of a tank, exudes tremendous architectural brilliance. Stay two nights in Amritsar. (B,D)
Day 10: Amritsar
Relax in the morning and after breakfast visit the Jalianwala Bagh which tells the sad story of mass killing of April 1919. More than 2000 Indians were killed and wounded here in an indiscriminate firing by the British. It was a carnage that had nationwide ramifications, shaking and enraging the whole country. Jalianwala Bagh commemorates the martyrs, keeping the tragic episode in its historical context. Later experience the retreat ceremony (change of guards) at Wagha, the Indo-Pakistan border. Stay overnight in Amritsar. (B,D)
Day 11: Amritsar - Delhi
After breakfast get a transfer to the railway station to board Delhi bound train. Upon arrival, the tour finishes with the transfer to Delhi airport to connect your onward flight. (B)
