Culture & Temples - 06 Days
Day 01: Chennai - Arrival
Meet, greet at the arrival lounge by our representative and transfer to the hotel when you arrive Chennai, the Gateway city of South India and perfect blend of traditionalism and a bustling cosmopolitan life. From nine yard saris to the latest in fashion, ancient temple architecture to modern high-rise, classical music and dance to discos throbbing to heady beats, the city has them all and many more vivid contrasts that are a pleasant surprise. Rest of the day at leisure or visit the sprawling golden and most picturesque Marina Beach, which boasts of being the second longest beach in the world.
Day 02: Chennai
Proceed for sight seeing tour and visit Kalakshetra, a school of art and music that encourages exponents of Bharatnatyam, Carnatic music, traditional weaving and designing, St. Mary’s Church, the oldest Church in India with its premises, Sri Parthasarathy Temple built by Pallavas in the 8th century AD; San Thomas Cathedral Basilica rebuilt in 1606. Overnight at hotel.(B,D)
Day 03: Chennai – Mahabalipuram
Travel to temple city of Mahabalipuram, a UNESCO World Heritage site for its brilliant rock-cut temples. Built by the Pallava rulers in the 7th century, the complex comprises of cave temples and monolithic rathas. Rest of the day free for own activities. Overnight at hotel. (B,D)
Day 04: Mahabalipuram
Visit the famous Shore Temple, designed to catch the first rays of the rising sun and to illuminate the waters after dark, the temple ended up with an unusual lay out of the main shrine facing the sea on the east, the gateway, the forecourt and the assembly hall lying behind the sanctum. Overnight at hotel. (B,D)
Day 05: Mahabalipuram – Pondicherry
Take a break from the hustle and bustle of modern life and travel to the calmness and serenity beaches of the Pondicherry. Afternoon visit Museum and world famous Aurobindo Ashram, where you will be transported to a world of bliss and peace. Overnight at hotel.(B,D)
Day 06: Pondicherry Departure
Morning free to explore the grand boulevards and quite promenades, where you will be greeted by large bouquets of bougainvillea hanging over ivory coloured walls of colonial mansions or enjoy a sun bath in its safe and secluded beaches. Later transfer to the airport for your onward journey. (B)
