Higlights Of Lanka - (09 days)
Explore the recent history of Sri Lanka through the Dutch, Portuguese and British cities, tea plantations and railways. Throughout this tour it is possible to stay in historic hotels, giving a vivid impression of times past.
Day 01: Arrive Colombo
Meeting and assistance on arrival by TOTAL HOLIDAY OPTIONS representative at the arrival lounge and transfer to the hotel. Overnight at Colombo.
Day 02: Colombo – Dambulla
Travel to Dambulla, and en-route visit the Elephant Orphanage at Pinnawela. Afternoon visit Dambulla Cave Temple, a vast isolated rock mass 500ft high and a mile around the base. The frescoes on the ceiling date back to the 15th -18th centuries and depict great events in the life of the Buddha, and landmarks in the history of the Sinhalese people. Stay overnight at Dambulla. Day 03: Dambulla (WILD SAFARI)
Today proceed to Polonnaruwa for a sightseeing tour. This “World Heritage Site” was the capital of Sri Lanka from 11th-13th centuries, and contains many splendid spectacular statues. Afternoon enjoy a safari at Minneriya National Park and stay overnight at Dambulla. (B,D)
Day 04: Dambulla - Kandy
Visit the 5th century Sigiriya Rock Fortress which is the wonder of the Island. Later travel to Kandy, and en-route visit the Spice garden at Matale to see a variety of luscious plants including cinnamon, cardamoms, pepper etc. You can also purchase locally grown spices. Stay overnight at Kandy.(B,D)
Day 05: Kandy
Proceed on a sightseeing tour and visit “Temple of the Tooth Relic”, Upper Lake drive, Gem museum. Evening witness the cultural show featuring various types of dance from Sri Lanka. Remaining if the day is free to explore the town and stay overnight at Kandy.(B,D)
Day 06:Beruwala
Enjoy your leisurely breakfast before we travel to Beruwala for a wonderful beach stay. Evening at leisure with overnight at Beruwala. (B,D)
Day 07: Beruwala (TURTLE HATCHERY & RIVER SAFARI)
Visit a Turtle Hatchery at Kosgoda where you will witness several species of turtles, specially the hawksbill, that are an endangered species. Afternoon proceed for River safari on the River Bentota and experience the unique Mangrove ecosystem while enjoying a green wonderland of breathtaking beauty. Stay overnight at Beruwala.(B,D)
Day 08: Beruwala – Colombo
Enjoy leisurely breakfast before travelling to Colombo. Rest of the day is free for last moment shopping or for your own activities. Stay overnight at Colombo. (B,D)
Day 09: Colombo departure
After breakfast transfer to airport to board the flight for your onward journey. (B)
