Day 01: Colombo – Negombo (15 kms / 15 mins)
Arrive Colombo; our tour Manager will welcome us at the airport arrival lounge with TOTAL HOLIDAY OPTIONS signboard. Transfer to hotel in Negombo, a very beautiful small town and only 15km away from the airport where we receive a traditional welcome "Ayubowan" while the hotel formalities are completed. Rest of the day is leisure or visit Negombo’s narrow streets marked by colourful churches decorated with silver, blue, pink and cream stucco. Set amid lush groves of coconut palms it breathes the spirit of the sea. Overnight at hotel.
Day 02: Negombo – Anuradhapura (170 kms / 3 hrs 30 mins
After a brief introduction of the city tour by our Tour Manager we proceed for Anuradhapura, Sri Lanka's ancient capital and the centre of the island's Buddhist civilization. In antiquity and the interest, it is the equal of any ancient 'buried city'. We visit the island's oldest Buddhist shrines - some dating back to 3rd century BC and Impressive white 'Dagabas' (relic chambers) and monuments, embellished with handsome stone carvings and sculpture. Later visit The Sri Maha Bodhi (over 2000 year’s old tree) and witness a superb irrigation system of reservoirs and canals. Overnight at hotel. (B,D).
Day 03: Anuradhapura – Habarana (58 kms / 1 hr 15 mins)
Before making our way to Habarana we visit Mihinthale, the forest clad mountain where the Buddhism was introduced in 3rd century BC. Please make sure your fitness level is good enough to climb gravel stairway of 1,840 steps made of granite slabs to enjoy a breathtaking view far and wide across the plains. In the evening take an optional Elephant Back Safari through the forests and villages. Enjoy Habarana and the surrounding wilderness as the elephant ambles through. Overnight at hotel. (B,D)
Day 04:Habarana – Polonnaruwa – Habarana (43 kms / 1 hr)
This morning we travel to the ancient city of Polonnaruwa, the medieval capital of Sri Lanka and visit Royal Palace, the Quadrangle with its concentration of ancient heritage and the spectacular Gal Vihare. The entire landscape of the region is punctuated by huge man-made reservoirs and monuments of this medieval city are relatively well preserved and give clear evidence of the glory of Sri Lanka's past. Return to the Habarana for overnight at hotel. (B,D)
Day 05: Habarana – Kandy (100 kms / 2 hrs)
After an early breakfast we travel to Sigiriya a World Heritage site and climb this spectacular Rock Fortress. The most impressive facets of the unique complex are the Water Gardens, the Frescoes of beautiful maidens, the Mirror Wall with ancient graffiti, the Lion platform and the Summit of 1.6 hectares, which was completely covered by buildings during the period of Sigiriya’s glory. Later commence our travel to the hill capital Kandy stopping en route and visiting at the Dambulla Cave Temple – features 5 well preserved caves, each of which houses ancient statues of the Buddha and historic art work depicting Buddha’s life, and much revered Temple of the Tooth Relic – the relic rests on a solid gold lotus flower, encased in a jewelled casket that sits on a throne. Evening witness a Kandyan cultural performance with overnight at hotel. (B,D)
Day 06: Kandy - Nuwara Eliya (Ceylon Tea State) (77 kms/ 1 hr 30 mins
After breakfast visit the elephant orphanage in Pinnawela in time to witness the bathing and bottle feeding of baby elephants. The orphanage was established in 1975, was primarily designed to afford care and protection to many baby elephants found in the jungle without their mothers. Later proceed Nuwara Eliya, a home of the famous Ceylon Tea and the rolling mountains are a carpet of velvety green tea plantations, interspersed with gushing streams and tumbling waterfalls. Rest of the day is free to stroll around this beautiful Tea state, with breathtaking views of valleys, meadows, mountains and greenery in salubrious climate. Overnight at hotel. (B,D)
Day 07: Nuwara Eliya
This morning we leave for The Horton Plains for a 02 – 03 hour walk to “Worlds End” where the Plain ends and drops off to nearly 1000metres, a thrilling sight and the breathtaking “Bakers Falls”. This ‘Fen” is a very scenic region with an astounding variety of scenery from mountains to grasslands and marshes to trout streams. Enjoy spectacular view with distinctive flora, colourful butterflies and many rare highland birds. Evening we proceed for city tour and visit the Victoria Park, market place and drive around the Lake Gregory. Overnight at hotel (B,D)
Day 08: Nuwara Eliya – Tissamaharama (146 kms / 3 hrs)
Today we travel to Tissamaharama, rest of the afternoon is free to walk around this town. Usually called Tissa, this busy town is surrounded by rice paddies that are dotted with ancient temples. Evening visit the sacred city of Kataragama and participate in the Puja ceremony at the temple. Overnight at hotel. (B,D)
Day 09: Bentota
We enjoy our leisurely breakfast and travel to Bentota, en-rout visiting the Dutch Fort. Rest of the afternoon free to relax at the beach. The broad, sandy, gently shelving beach has calm, warm waters on two fronts-the sea for swimming and the River where one can take a lazy boat ride up stream and through the mangroves. Overnight at beautiful beach resort.(B,D)
Day 10: Bentota
Enjoy leisurely breakfast and relax at the beach. Optionally enjoy water sport as this place offer many options to choose from, such as windsurfing, water-skiing and catamaran rides. Overnight at resort. (B,D)
Day 11: Bentota
Full day at Leisure to relax and enjoy the beach with overnight at resort. (B,D)
Day 12: Bentota – Colombo Departure
After breakfast we travel back to Colombo where we board our flight for onward journey. (B)
