Day 01: Colombo – Negombo (15kms / 15 mins)
Arrive Colombo; Our tour Manager will welcome us at the airport arrival lounge with TOTAL HOLIDAY OPTIONS signboard. Transfer to hotel in Negombo, a very beautiful small town and only 15km away from the airport where we receive a traditional welcome "Ayubowan" while the hotel formalities are completed. Rest of the day is at leisure with overnight at hotel.
Day 02: Negombo – Habarana (65 kms / 1 hr 30 mins)
We travel to Habarana the hub of Sri Lanka’s Cultural Triangle. The drive will take you through small villages interspersed with paddy fields, coconut and rubber plantations and forests. In the evening acclimatise to the tropics and relax after the long flight with a leisurely walk along the hotels nature trail which wends its way along a breathtaking dry zone lake. The sunset, by a lake is guaranteed to be special. Enjoy rest of the day at unique and beautiful hotel based on the lay out of a traditional Sri Lankan village, set in a 50 acre park bordering lake. Overnight at hotel. (B,D).
Day 03:Trek & Elephant Back Safari
Leave early morning with a packed breakfast for Hiriwaduna for a 03 hour trek through this archetypal Sri Lankan village. The trek begins with an awesome walk along a bund of a Wewa or man made reservoir. The reservoir itself, the surrounding scrub jungle, marshland and village are a hive of early morning activity. The amazing birdlife, butterflies and possible sightings of crocodile only add to the charm of seeing the villagers as they go about their early morning tasks of fishing, or washing clothes at the periphery of the lake. At the Chena cultivation we will stop to enjoy the farmer’s humble hospitality and pick some of the fresh vegetables to cook for lunch with the help of a family traditional method using earthenware pots and firewood as fuel. Afternoon we enjoy an Elephant Back Safari through the forests and villages of Habarana and stay Overnight at hotel. (B,D)
Day 04:Habarana – Kandy (100 kms / 2 hrs)
We leave after an early breakfast trek to Sigiriya and climb the Rock Fortress. This UNESCO World Heritage site is a spectacular Rock Fortress. The most impressive facets of the unique complex are the Water Gardens, the Frescoes of beautiful maidens, the Mirror Wall with ancient graffiti, the Lion platform and the Summit of 1.6 hectares, which was completely covered by buildings during the period of Sigiriya’s glory. Later proceed to the hill capital Kandy stopping en-route at a spice garden for a short trek to see spices growing in their natural habitat. Evening sightseeing of the hill capital Kandy including a visit to the much revered Temple of the Tooth Relic and witness a Kandyan cultural performance before finishing your evening with overnight at hotel. Day 05: Kandy
Today we proceed to Pinnawela to visit the abandoned baby Elephants orphanage and witness the feeding and the bathing. Afternoon take a walk through the bustling Kandy town, a perfect way to take in the Kandyan citadel and to experience the crimson sunset by the lake as the sun dips below the ring of mountains. Stay overnight at hotel. (B,D)
Day 06: Kandy – Nuwarealiya (77 kms / 1 hr 30 mins)
Leave for Kitulgala the film location of David Lean’s masterpiece “The Bridge On The River Kwai”. Today Kitulgala is an excellent area for adventure activities. We enjoy white Water Rafting excursion on the Kelani River. This short but exhilarating excursion is ‘Level 03’ and is suitable for most people between the ages of 08 and 60. Later witness Devon and St.Clare’s Waterfalls and visit a Tea Factory to enjoy the process of turning the raw green leaf into the familiar black-brown finished product. Overnight at hotel. (B,D)
Day 07: Nuwarealiya – Yala National Park (195 kms / 4 hrs)
Horton Plains for an easy 02 – 03 hour trek to ‘World’s End’ and the beautiful bridal veil ‘Bakers Falls’.This ‘Fen” is a very scenic region with an astounding variety of scenery from mountains to grasslands, from marshes to trout streams. Sri Lanka's best flavoured high grown teas are grown in the surrounding areas. Before travelling to Yala we proceed to Pattipola for a short but very interesting train ride to Ella through mountain passes and tea estates. Overnight at resort. (B,D)
Day 08: Yala – Colombo (300 kms / 6 hrs)
Early morning Jeep Safari on most known Yala national park, popular for Elephant, Leopard, Bear, Crocodile, Wild Boar and many other wildlife species. Its open undulating terrain made it famous for elephants and endangers Leopard. Claims have subsequently been made that Yala National Park has the worlds highest concentration of leopard per square kilometre. Afternoon travel back to Colombo, evening free to stroll in the city with overnight at resort. (B,D)
Day 09: Colombo Departure
After leisurely breakfast transfer to the airport to board flight for your onwards journey. (B)
