25th Feb 2010 - Day 01: Arrive Delhi
Delhi is a wondrous city with a rich history and culture. The "capital of seven empires" has many thousands of recognized monuments within its borders. Though Bombay has more residents, Delhi is widely considered the cultural heart of India. Upon arrival in Delhi our Tour Manager will meet us at the airport arrival lounge for assistance and transfer to The Imperial Hotel, one of Asia’s finest hotels that most elegantly captured the ambience of the Raj and offer a unique experience embracing many facets of India’s history. We receive a traditional welcome with garland, tilak and refreshing drinks while the hotel formalities are completed. Remaining of the day is at leisure with overnight at the luxurious Imperial Hotel. /div>
26th Feb 10 - Day 02: Delhi
Today, embark on a city sightseeing tour of Old and New Delhi. Highlights include the Red Fort, which represents the pinnacle of Mughal architecture during the reign of Emperor Shah Jahan (AD 1639); Jama Masjid, the largest mosque in India; then hop onto cycle rickshaws and set out through the bustling marketplace, Chandi Chowk. Pass through Dariba Kalan, the gold and silversmith district, then through Kinari Bazaar, which has the most colourful shops in Old Delhi, and Khari Baoli, which is famous for its nut and spice shops. After lunch, visit two UNESCO World Heritage Sites: Qutub Minar and Humayun's Tomb. Tonight, join fellow travellers for a welcome dinner and relish authentic Awadhi cuisine. Stay overnight at luxurious Imperial Hotel. (B,L,D).
27th Feb 10 - Day 03: Delhi – Agra
After sumptuous buffet breakfast we continue by road to Agra. En-rout visiting Sikandra Fort - the beautiful tomb of the Mughal Emperor Akbar. On arrival check in at The Regal Jaypee Palace, a glorious structural blend of red sandstone and marble is spread over an unbounded 25 acres of elegantly landscaped luxuriant greenery. Sprinkled with enormous water bodies and endless walkways, this magical creation impeccably blends Mughal and contemporary architecture with modern amenities. Rest of the afternoon is at leisure to enjoy the hospitality of Jaypee Palace. This evening we will enjoy the superb Mughlai cuisine dinner while live Indian soft music add a flavour to our evening. 28th Feb 10 - Day 04: Agra
Two great Mughal monarchs, Akbar and Shah Jahan, transformed the little village of Agra into a befitting second capital of the Mughal Empire - giving it the name Dar-ul-Khilafat {seat of the Emperor}. Today visitor to Agra is caught up in a world of contrasting edifices of red sandstone and white marble, narrow galleys and quaint buggies, and that irresistible charm that this favourite city of the Mughals still retains. A walk down the narrow bustling streets of the city will introduce the visitor to the wafting aroma of Mughlai cuisine After breakfast, enjoy a sightseeing tour of Agra, visiting two UNESCO World Heritage Sites, the imposing Agra Fort, built of red sandstone and marble, and the Taj Mahal, built by the Mughal Emperor Shahjehan in 1630 for his queen Mumtaz Mahal to enshrine her mortal remains.Once inside, the intricate marble work and semi- precious stones reveal a beauty which is truly awe-inspiring. Later we visit the beautiful Pearl Mosque - The interiors of which are considered better than the Taj. Afternoon discover the fascinating city which is still famous for handicraft products such as inlay work on marble, carpets, jewellery, zari and embroidery work. 1st Mar 10 - Day 05: Agra – Ranthambore
After breakfast, depart for the ruins of Fatehpur Sikri, a “Perfect City” whose only flaw was its lack of water. It’s a veritable fairytale city and its "ruins" are in pristine condition. It’s not hard to imagine what the court life must have been like in the days of its grandeur. We make our way out from Bulund Darwaza, the largest gateway in the world to continue drive to Ranthambore, one of India’s most famous National Parks. Ranthambore is a World Heritage Site with lake palaces and old forts, often frequented by wandering tiger. The park situated at the junction of the Aravalis and the Vindhyas, is a unique example of natural and historical richness, standing out conspicuously in the vast, arid and denuded tract of eastern Rajasthan. Get in tune with nature for a luxury holiday in the heart of the jungle. On arrival relax at the Sher Bagh Luxurious Tent. The campaign style furniture, hand crafted in rosewood and teak has been custom made for the camp. Sher Bagh has 12 Luxury double bedroom tents with their own little verandah and en-suite bathrooms. The bathrooms are hedonists delight comprising a mixture of green marble and sandstone, and sunken showers with running hot and cold water. Lather yourself with a specially made Khus (vetiver) soak and stand under the earth- scented shower and you are on quite a sensory journey. 2nd Mar 10 - Day 06: Ranthambore (Tiger Safari)
Enjoy the early morning TIGER SAFARI inside the park in a jeep with an experience guide. Have a breakfast will be at the resort and relax before we proceed for afternoon. Rest of the evening at leisure before we conclude our day with delight of a camp dinner. Stay overnight in luxurious Sher Bagh. (B,L,D)
3rd Mar 10 - Day 07: Ranthambhore – Jaipur
After breakfast we travel by road to Jaipur Known as the Pink City. The city was painted pink to celebrate a visit from the Prince of Wales in 1876 and has retained its attractive dusky rose façade ever since. From the impressive Amber Fort, to the City Palace, Palace of Winds and Observatory, there is plenty to learn from this historic destination. Being Rajasthan’s capital, this city explodes with a rich architectural heritage of forts, gardens and palaces built by princes and merchants. The old walled city is still a medieval maze offering a cornucopia of jewellery, textiles, gems, traditional blue pottery and myriad artisan wares. On arrival check into the luxurious Rambagh Palace. Spread over 47 acres of tranquil, landscaped gardens the palace is Jaipur’s foremost Royal Palace residence and located close to the walled ‘Pink City’, spectacular forts, and all the unique shopping bazaars of Jaipur. The Palace unveils the rich culture and history of the erstwhile rulers of Rajasthan and finally converted as India’s first palace hotel in 1957. Afternoon free to relax at the hotel or optionally take a stroll of the amazing city. Evening we enjoy traditional Rajasthani cuisine dinner at an ethnic restaurant before completing day with overnight at luxurious Rambagh Palace. (B,L,D)
4th Mar 10 - Day 08: Jaipur
Start today’s touring with a photo stop at the Hawa Mahal (Palace of the Winds) a high and intricately carved wall behind which women of the court were sequestered while watching processions. We proceed towards Amber Palace where we ride an Elephant from the foothill to the top of the fortress. On our return we visit Observatory and the City Palace, which houses an excellent collection of Rajasthani costumes, miniatures and an armoury of Rajput weapons. Afternoon is free to enjoy hospitality of the hotel or explore the local markets full of carpets, prints and jewellery. Don’t forget to bargain! Overnight at luxurious Rambagh Palace.(B,L,D)
5th Mar 10 - Day 09: Jaipur – Goa (By Air)
After a leisurely breakfast we board flight for Goa. No other destination can compete with the “Pearl of the Orient” in terms of natural beauty and tranquil beaches that collaboratively provide you with an out of the world holiday experience. Goa is located on the western coast of India, surrounded by Maharashtra in the north, Karnataka in the east and south, and the Arabian Sea in the west. 8th Mar 10 - Day 12: Goa – Cochin (By Air
After a leisurely breakfast we board afternoon flight to striking port city of Cochin and witness lush mangroves, coconut tress reflected in the translucent waters of backwaters, ancient churches, cathedrals and fort. A vibrant city on the coast of peninsula Kochi is the port city in Kerala. Sometimes also referred to as the Gateway to Kerala, the influence of British, Chinese, Dutch and Portuguese have marked the history and development of this city. Rest of the evening free for your own activity with overnight at luxurious Taj Malabar, overlooking the scenic backwaters and exotic fusion of cosy contemporary facilities in a heritage old world charm.(B,L,D)
9th Mar 10 - Day 13: Cochin
Enjoy sightseeing tour of Kochi, visiting St. Francis Church where Vasco da Gama was originally buried, the Santa Cruz Cathedral with its pastel coloured interior and carved wooden panels and witness the unique cantilevered Chinese fishing nets nearby. Afternoon visit the Jewish Synagogue in the heart of Jew Town and stroll through the nearby markets. Evening watch most famous dance known as Kathakali at the theatre and finish your evening with delicious authentic Kerala dinner. Overnight stay at luxurious Taj Malabar. (B,L,D)
10th & 11th Mar 10 - Day 14 & 15: Backwater Cruise
Today we travel to Kumarakom known as the backwater town to board our luxurious traditional houseboat for the start of the cruise. This is an unforgettable way to explore the region as we wind our way through canals, verdant backwaters and past colourful villages. The boat itself will be our home, each cabin has private facilities. Sit back and relax while the boat cruises to Alleppey through the narrow serene backwater canals. 12th & 13th Mar 10 - Day 16 & 17: Kovalam
